Bumble Bee

by Angela

I love bumble bees. I saw this lovely one this evening just buzzing around the flowers, going about it’s business. I got very close to it with the camera and it wasn’t in the least bothered. One childhood memory that really sticks out was when I rescued a bumble bee once. It had run out of energy and was very dazed and stumbling around. I put some sugar and water mixture in a jam jar lid and fed it. I could see it’s little proboscis drinking it up – this revived the lovely bee and off it flew. I was so proud.

Just loved the bumblebee photo. What flower is he on?
And you are right to be proud about your younger self rescuing a bee.

Thank you. Sorry I have no idea what the flower is. It is actually some kind of tree or shrub growing out of the wall. Whatever it is the bees love it.

That's great–I've never had any of my attempted photos of bumblebees come out well. They are such a joy to watch in the garden. And I love the story about the bee rescue!

Thank you Ellen. They are a joy to watch and they do move about quite a bit so its not easy to get a photo. Rescuing a bee is not the most glamorous thing in the world, but it made me very happy 🙂

Thanks Di. The owls are lovely.

You are so lucky. If I won the lottery apart from being a full-time artist I would love to have an Animal Sanctuary.
