Yes indeed. My computer is sick and possibly dying and that is the message I got when I ran Disk First Aid – Invalid Sibling Link.  Luckily I have a back up. This is just to let you know I will be out of action for a while until I sort out my computer situation. I decided to accompany this post with a picture of me (in the middle) and my 2 sisters. Sorry for being so literal but I couldn’t resist it 🙂 You have to a sense of humour when stuff like this happens, but I must say I was laughing at 2.30 am last night when I was trying to sort it all out. The worst of the storm is over now 🙂

  1. Thank you all. I have spent most of the weekend trying to sort it out and am not sure yet if will be OK. Maybe its a sign telling me in the strongest terms possible – you're too attached to it – get off that computer!!

  2. Thanks Ellen. I have wiped the hard drive now and am trying to reinstall OSX. So far this has not been very successful. I need to install the original disks 10.4 then upgrade to 10.5 and then 10.6! Installed 10.4 OK but then failed on 10.5. I have repaired and wiped the hard drive several times and tried to reinstall the full OS but it will go so far fail and then when I run Disk Utility it throws up more cryptic error messages like "unused node is not erased"!! At one stage disk utility couldn't even find the hard drive – first it said it was unmounted and then it disappeared which was quite disconcerting. I am really hoping I can sort this. I am not looking forward to the prospect of having a hard drive repair or worst case scenario the cost of repair is so high it would make more sense to buy a new one. Can't afford either really 🙂

  3. p.s. I refuse to call versions of Mac OS the animal names. You might as well call different versions of Linux after Penguins. You could have Linux Emperor, King, Gentoo, Adelie, Macaroni! etc. etc.
